I don't think that anywhere in the Japanese narrative does anyone say that the high tension lines were rigged in days; I think that's an assumption -- I'll have to check. Viewing the Japanese version numerous times over the last twenty-three years, I always assumed that this feat of civil engineering took weeks, as illustrated by the use of montage, which I why I never questioned it. I don't think that Ishiro Honda, who co-authored the screenplay (with Takeo Murata), wouldn't have been that lazy.
