The B side of the 1998 R1 DVD from Simitar has a widescreen version, but it's nothing but the regular version with the top and bottom of the picture cropped off.

The weird thing about the Simitar matted widescreen transfer is that although the bottom of the picture is severly cropped--there's at least one elaborate effects shot totally ruined because a crowd fleeing Godzilla is completely cropped out of the image--the transfer actually has MORE picture information at the top than the 1.33:1 transfers. Obviously the telecine operator must have seen that if he matted off the top and bottom equally there would be serious problems with headroom, and adjusted the framing so that only the bottom was matted off, and in the process exposed more of the top of the frame.

The Simitar widescreen transfer is also the only one with the opening Transworld logo.
