GOJIRA has never looked very good - I saw the theatrical release a couple of years back, and the print was worn.

Same with the 40th Anniversary Laserdisc - and any version of GODZILLA I've ever seen has much better picture quality on the Raymond Burr inserts.

As I understand, it, this probably IS the best that's left. I read somewhere that the film stocks Toho had to work with back then were inferior to those available in the US, and that the negative was printed so much that the wear is built in now.

One does wonder if one of these "super" digital restorations might help some, but this is one case where I'm not disappointed or surprised by the condition of the film on disc.
