I watched the new GOJIRA DVD yesterday. For a "brand new 35 mm transfer from the vaults of Toho" I was extremely disappointed with the amount of speckles and blemishes on the film. This is particularly noticeable on the night scenes. This is not what I was expecting from this presentation. Compare it to DVD prints of other contemporary films like "The Day the Earth Stood Still" or even the recent releases by CasaNegra which all showcase impeccable transfers. Not the case here. Is this the best print Toho could come up with??? And for a film of this magnitude? Very disappointing indeed.
