Thanks for posting the review! Love your website.... it's perfect for my antiquated, dial up only computer!

Thanks a bunch, your lucky I didn't do any screencaps (I have to reinstall my DVD software) or it would have been a real pain for you on dial-up :). Still I'm very happy you like the site. I've found using blogger to be easier than learning HTML and allows for a setup that is just like a website, but easier to produce.

somewhat like the DOGORA disc from Media Blasters

I thought that was because MB used a laser-disc master for that edition as the R2 had not yet been released.

The US version appears to be a re-edit of the video from the Japanese master (all the dirt and scratches are in the same places), however, it's much, much softer, as if the master tape was dubbed down a generation or two. Quite frankly, it looks like ass.

Yeah, it seemed soft, but not horrible, it is weaker when compared to the Sony Showa releases which were mastered in HD and had amazing resolution and detail. However, I still felt it was a good enough quality to recommend to others.

Still I didn't notice as many wires as I did on the R2 when I saw a copy. I wonder if the soft presentation was done to obscure the wires? I doubt it, but I thought I would throw a crazy idea out there.
