GHIDORA seems to be a port of the R2 master, having the same weak blacks, and somewhat soft detail, like everything that's come out of Toho recently. This at least doesn't have the smeary DVNR that some of the other Toho transfers have, though. It looks rather more contrasty than other films from this era, somewhat like the DOGORA disc from Media Blasters, making me think either these two films only survive as dupes, or that they were filmed on a different stock than most other films from that era. This is all just speculation, though.

The US version appears to be a re-edit of the video from the Japanese master (all the dirt and scratches are in the same places), however, it's much, much softer, as if the master tape was dubbed down a generation or two. Quite frankly, it looks like ass.
