Buying TV Guide back in my youth was usually part of my weekly comic-book-buying bus trips from Saint Paul to Minneapolis to scope out Shinders newsstand. Comics, TV Guide, maybe Variety if I had the extra funds. (And on a real good week, I'd pick up the latest FM, Monster Times, or Cinefantastique...)

And yep, once home, I would obsessively pour over the TVG listings, pen in hand, looking for horror and SF movies that when found would hover in front of my imagination like carrots in front of a donkey.

I don't want to go all Horace-Ford on you, but... I'd trade today's television (cable, dish-- all of it) for those days, no contest. (As long as own-your-own, home-video options were still available, heh heh. --Hey, I'm not a total idiot!)
