Much as I admire DR. M, one plot turn has been bugging me ever since I first discovered the film on Chiller Theater.

>>>>>>SPOILER>>>>>>>>

Dr. M's execution for the murder of the gypsy woman makes a nice ironic twist, if precious little sense. After all, the victim was an escaped homicidal maniac much feared by the sanitorium staff. Hence, it seems more than a mite odd when the staffers stare accusingly at Dr. M as he cradles the dead psycho in his arms, odder still that the doc should pay for the deed with his life. Talk about a clear-cut case of self-defense.

Since the movie conveniently jumps past the arrest and trial, one can't help but wonder about the competence of the doc's defense attorney, let alone the mystery of jurisprudence from beyond the pale.
