Thanks for the info, Monsterpal.

I didn't realize he did the two Robles vampire films. They're not too bad at all, and I think there was a thread a while back that determined THE VAMPIRE was the first vampire movie to use dental fangs (a year before HORROR OF DRACULA) except for that Turkish Dracula movie, which I'm quite sure Mendez was unaware of.

One thing about these Mexican horror films I keep meaning to mention is that none of them ever seem to use any optical effects at all. (The worst thing about those Robles films is how he pops offscreen, ala BEWITCHED, to be replaced by a bat, which just looks terrible.) I know that opticals cost a little more, but they sure would have helped these films immensely.

At our meeting last night, we also started to watch the new DVD of THE BRAINIAC. Same thing again -- no opticals, not even rear screen projection! Two shots at the beginning were done with photo backgrounds, which would seem to me to cost as much to make as rear screen shots (unless you just don't have the equipment, of course).

I don't even think I've ever noticed a simple optical wipe in any of these movies! Maybe someone can point me in the right direction...
