I'm a really big fan of J-horror and K-horror because of the slow buildup and subtlety and psychological shock value, though I don't think this is one of the best examples of J-horror, it is certianly a great film the story is gripping the tiny hints at what this girl is up to and then the pay off are worth the watch, I do however prefer movies with a supernatural element I recently watched Ju-on 2 which was excellent and scared me on so many levels.
Though not officially J or K horror the Pang brothers have made some great movies.
For horror fans who are tired of the over use of CGI, gore and purile story lines and bad remake after remake after remake that is a current trend in Hollywood these movies are a breath of fresh air and I would thoroughly reccomend them.
I think that Japanese Ghosts (Yurei) are a worthy addition to the monster pantheon.
