Furthermore, the question that was raised in this thread is not whether it was difficult or not to be a homosexual at various times and in various places, but whether it is likely that David Peel's career as an actor suffered from him being suspected of being or being known to be a homosexual. My answer is: No, that does not seem very likely.

In fact, I have a hard time thinking of any actor whose career has suffered from such knowledge or suspicion. Your example of Rock Hudson is well taken in this regard.
