I watched DRACULA A.D. 1972 last night and it wasn't nearly as bad as I remembered. The modern hippy stuff was still pretty tedious, but Lee and Cushing were in good form and as sincere as ever. I'd forgotten how much screen time Cushing actually had. With the '70s setting and music, it almost felt more like an episode of The Night Stalker than a Hammer film. The Count's demise was a little more ignoble than usual and I felt a little sorry for Lee having to put up with it. I guess this was the last of the Hammer Draculas to be released on DVD. By the way, it's nice that Warners finally abandoned the cardboards snapper case and switched to the standard DVD clamshell case. What a pain those other cases are. Why would any company prefer them to the more durable and streamlined cases?
