I think, speaking as a man of Jewish descent, I am personally very glad American saved our butts in WWII.

That doesn't mean it's been squeaky clean since, but I think WWII is a rare case where one can defintely say the defeat of countries run by genocidal nutcases (well, Germany anyway) makes me forever grateful that American chose the "right" side. WW1 is a case where no-one was in the right, but, whatever reasons they may have had, America did do the greater good in the 1940s. A world run by the genocidal Hitler or the barbaric Japanese military is a terrifying prospect...

...however, I certainly agree that Uncle Joe, Mao etc caused untold dammages to their countries and that of others before, during and following WWII, and the fact that we've seen the Western world repeatedly go to war under false pretences in order to obtain material wealth, makes me think some things changed for the better in 1945, other things stayed the same, and some things changed for the worse.

Would it be too much to ask for a peaceful world where everyone has enough to eat, can enjoy a pleasant life and not have to worry about getting blown up? It's not impossible, but it's not going to happen when pratically every country in the world is repeatedly run by freaking EVIL IDIOTS!!!!!!!!
