Read more deeply about the Mengele-style "medical research," and Nanking-type exterminations, by both totalitarian regimes...

There's never been a perfect human society, and it's a question of degree... but the good (-er) guys did win WWII.

Thought experiment: if the Axis had won, would they have aided in the benevolent rebuilding of the wasted Allied societies, as happened?
When did I say that I was unaware of such? I am quite well aware of the war crimes of both countries, as well as the fact that Japan particularly has not owned up to such crimes.

I have posted about this in at one other thread. Japan and Germany's karma did catch up with them, shall we say. The only question I ask when I say this is of course the world would be worse (at least for some time) but how much worse? Stalin and Chiang's regimes were awful as well, the Russians were really vicious to the Axis soldiers that they captured and raped droves of German girls when the occupied the East. Now while the Americans did fairly benevolently rebuild the destroyed Allied countries (though especially in Japan GI rape was a huge problem), the Soviets not so much. America very much played chess and fought for its own interests as everybody else did and it still does, we were not the chivalrous knights history books paint us as, my only point.

Tying in with that, you are aware of how America and MacArthur's occupation forces gave a gaggle of some Japan's worst war criminals from Unit 731, complete immunity in exchange for their data which would be useful in the Cold War right? America, on the international stage, has never been a nation with much integrity, always playing chess and doing the right thing mainly when its interests are best served by it. Shiro Ishii, who could be perhaps one of the most evil men in the entire Japanese military, was allowed to go free and live out the remainder of his life in peace. The Allies didn't have too much of a moral advantage is my only point, at least not as much as is commonly thought. I'm sure if Japan and German had won the wars there would have been a lot of bloodshed afterward, they probably would have had their own Cold War in fact. I mainly wonder if the world would be more peaceful right now, in 2012, after all the dust settled, since they would have killed so many people that the population would be much lower now.
