Im not in favour of missing audio/visuals in a film (or TV show). Keep them as extras by all means, but not in the body of a film.
The problem is, if they don't appear in the body of the film then, the storyline continuity is disrupted.  I think I would prefer to see missing audio/visuals as an optional veiwing experience but, integrated into the body of the film.  You would have the choice of viewing it "with" or "without".
