I think the difference is clear if you watch and pay attention to things like the Freddie Francis Hammers, or an off-brand item like BLOOD OF THE VAMPIRE. Fisher's style is not obtrusively pictoral (like Francis') nor is it theatrical and quirky with regard to subject matter yet stagey and procenium-distant like Browning's. He's not the stylist Hitchcock was by any means; instead, he was a jobbing director who made his decisions based on scripts he was given. Yet the output (whether or not he had any choices in material) is more consistent and effective than guys like Reggie LeBorg or Eddie Cahn, both of whom tackled similar subjects with similar budget restrictions.
