Mac, someone just needs to give UCLA half a million bucks, dedicated to this title. Have them restore the 1925 Release Version from the 16mm prints they have that came from Uni's negative, use colorization to replace all the lost color, and record the original score with a good live orchestra. In effect, yes - give this title the TLC that NOSFERATU and METROPOLIS have gotten. Only then would we have The Definitive THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA.

(What I'VE never quite gotten, is why historians, fans, and studio folks never thought this one was worthy of the same treatment as those two...)
