Tom has a drawer labeled "PIECES OF STRING TOO SMALL TO SAVE."
There used to be a box in my parents' attic that was labelled, among other things,

One Torn, Useless Bathing Suit

My dad was the very definition of "pack rat."  He kept things that he hoped would one day, some day, have some use for something.  Mostly they didn't, and our garage (and closets) were filled with things that he was sure could be used in some way.  He had boxes of old vacuum tubes, which I can't think were any good for anything in the 80s.  We had a hand-crank copy machine from the 50s.  Boxes of various shapes of plastic.  I have no issues still, really.
