I have an old-style cathode-ray TV that is seldom ever switched on, and cannot pick up digital pictures. I watch most movies on an LED projector, which puts the fun back into movie-watching. However this is obviously more practical after dark.

On occassion, I crave seeing a movie in daytime, and that's when I bung in a DVD on the computer monitor: being LED, the resolution is far greater than my old TV set. It's not quite as comfortable sitting watching on a computer stool, but if it's a gripping enough movie,I will stay the course.

I use VLC free media-player to view movies by computer, and I can't reccomend it highly enough: not only can you obtain quality screen-grabs via freeze-frames [very handy for adding stills onto this forum] VLC also has a great graphic equalizer where you can tailor the sound to your specific tastes using sliding bars: used in conjunction with a 5:1 speaker system with subwoofer, the results are excellent, noticably more advanced than my ten-year-old standalone amp I use with my projector.

So watching an entire movie on a computer monitor is fine now and again.

I NEVER watch movies on TV.
