Just to rock the boat (for a change!) I've heard/read the cartoon video anecdote before and have to say I find it, albeit unintentionally, faintly patronising.

I prefer to remember Cushing for his body of work and for his mature self, rather than this caricature which has been created by fans who ambushed "Sir" at his local tea room (among all the other Whitstable cliches) and were astonished to find he didn't have them arrested Beverly Hills style.

Compared to the BBC documentary (interviews with Tony Hinds, Aida Young, clips of James Carreras etc.) Flesh & Blood always struck me as a stock-footage-driven, arm's distance fan product legitimised by the voicing talent. And the behind the scenes story in LSoH of the show's producers hoping to see their heroes reunite before death took one of them, left me feeling deeply uncomfortable, with the author putting himself and his emotional gatecrashing of, effectively, a stranger's final months centre stage.

Going off topic, it's inevitable that fans will put their needs/desires first but I wish that more of those who succeed in working their way into production positions could show more respect and professionalism. Some DVD extras and commentaries by fan writers in all genres (from Toho to Amicus) have been pretty embarrassing, presumably a function of distributors not wanting to pay too much or any money at all.
