Brad, do you know if - in final anlysis - Sompote Sands really directed the movie, or simply put his name in the international version as director? there are many controversies about this on the Web, and to complicate things, an "official" website of Thai movies credits him for directing both KRAI THONG and KRAI THONG 2 (1980 and 1985), when by all evidence he was only the SPFX director...
And do you know how many crocodile films he was credited for (in any function), in including the "crocodile men" ones like KRAI THONG ?

Sadly, I can only speculate that he directed the human actors and Kazuo Sagawa (THE LAST DINOSAUR) consulted on the sfx which Sompote may have had a hand with.  It seems like every version of the film has a different director!  I'm going to go back through my notes later on the film later and see where I left off.  There was a great Japanese Chaiyo film fansite that had a lot of great information on the film.  The little girl who played Dr. Akom's daugther, for example, was Sompote's niece.

Here is a photo I've only seen on the back of the UK pre-cert VHS release which has the gigantic crocodile prop surrounded by dozens of smaller props (!?).  It would be easy to say the footage of the normal sized crocodile was from an earlier film, but here it shows both sized props together.
