But he wasn't supposed to be the same Cap as in the comics. It was revealed that he was the son of the "original" Captain America. The TV movie was not an adaptation of Marvel's comic book character but a TV variation. At least unlike a similar TV adaptation of DC's Wonder Woman, Reb Brown looked more like the character in costume than Cathy Lee Crosby did. (And Marvel back then was just happy to get their characters turned into TV movies & shows and didn't seem to care that much how faithful the stories were.) We also got Nicholas Hammand as Spider-man and the less said about Thor in an Incredible Hulk TV movie the better. The Hulk TV series with Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno was the most successful of Marvel's TV output back then.
