Fellas, I do appreciate your recommending these more obscure groups (and, GK, your comments about more mainstream groups are well taken), but I want you to understand that a key criterion for my putting a tune on my playlist is:

It must be catchy (or, if you like, interesting) enough that I immediately like it and know in my heart that I want to hear it again real soon.

"Baby, Baby (I Still Love You)" by the Cinderellas I wanted to hear again right after the first time I blipped it.

Now, I understand that taste has a role to play in this, and that taste is personal. But we all know that certain songs which are deemed "hits" and given airplay are the sort of songs that most everybody listens to and find re-listenable.

There are songs out there that should have, in my opinion, enjoyed that popularity, but, for whatever reason, did not.

(Then, again, there are those songs that, after a half dozen listens, begin to grow on you and kind of make themselves at home in our brain for ever after. Those tunes are not what Squashpants is all about.)

I consider it my mission to find those songs (the ones described before the paranthetical) and put them out there for others to discover as well.

So, the groups you are telling me about may have music that has entertained you mightily in your past, but they may not be the sort of thing that one listens to initially and halfway through, goes "Wow, that is totally frickin' awesome!".

The latter is what I strive to put forth in my sets.

So, please, if I don't find this sort of treasure among the output of your groups, don't take it personally.

I'm on a mission from Athena.
