Just recieved this morning and watched it this afternoon - it's great to be off work on holiday!

I last saw it a few years ago when I taped it from a channel 4 (I think) screening here in the UK and had forgotten over the intervening time what a little corker it is. It's a splendid supernatural thriller which moves along at a decent pace and the cast are all on great form, particularly the two leads. There was obviously a decent amount of money spent on it and several of the sets and costumes - particularly the women's are pleasingly deco-ish in style, which is something that always appeals to me. The film also features some fascinating contemporary footage from what appears to be the Derby as a little bonus for any racing fans out there. Also look out for the unusual dressing table/mirror/door that Rains uses at one stage and the very cute final scene.

I'll have to be honest and say that the picture and sound quality isn't the best, but this is a piece of cinema from 1935 and the disc was perfectly watchable and not a fraction as bad as some dvds I've endured over the years. I'm just so pleased to see this very fine vintage film being released.

Smart cover and a concise little booklet with three very informative pages of liner notes from James Oliver too - great package, Odeon.
