I just watched all your videos you've posted on here. Not bad.
I loved "Psycho". The slide guitar blew me away. The Poppees were good, that old garage sound always hooks me in.
What really interested me was 23 Skidoo. What year did they record that? From the picture, they look like from the mid to late 60's but the song feels later.
You should post the Italian Spiderman song on the Silly Songs thread. I think some people would get a kick out of that.
I'm a bit of a techno-dweeb,so forgive my ignorance. Is this blip FM accessible by computer or do you have to have a smart phone?
If you're interested,I can recomend some songs that I've run across over the years. I have begun to realize that because of the internet,a lot of great music has become accessible to an audience that otherwise wouldn't even know about it,and there's definately people out there hungry for it.
GK, thanks so much for listening and thanks for the feedback. I will happily take "Not bad", although my ambition is to get music that deserves more enthusiastic responses. Ah, well, you know, musical taste is a very personal thing, and I may be being a bit naive. All the same...

"Psycho" is great musically, but it is the lyrical content that I always get a kick out of. The way he ends each verse with "<pause> Mama", is just a hoot!

The Poppees song is an obvious bit of faux early Beatles, and uses all the musical devices that make that style of music so catchy. It would be easy to mistake it for a British Invasion single made in 1964, but it was actually released in 1978..

23 Skidoo, without doing any research on them, I would place in the late 80s, beyond the B-52 Rock Lobster school of New Wave and on towards the 90s electronica spirit. But the song is very engaging and makes me feel very relaxed.

The "Italian Spiderman" tune is an example of the sort of novelty pop that I pepper my sets with. I love novelty, and this one has such a dead-on 60s/70s Italian nostalgia video, it's just plain irresistible.

Blip.FM is an Internet site that you can access on your computer or your phone (if I had to have a smart phone to use it, I would be in trouble). I have a great sound card and decent speakers for my desktop so that is where I do my DJing. The registration process is really quite rudimentary.

As I have said, I make it a point to play music that is rare in today's popular music environment, and that usually falls between the late 50s and late 80s. Anything out of the timeframe, I usually cannot get into.

And, although there is plenty of music that you can learn to love after a half dozen listens, that is not good enough for me. For me, the song has to be such that when you hear it once, you can't wait to hear it again. If that is not my personal experience with a song, then I do not add it to my playlist.

I have over 1250 listeners to date.
