In the 70's David Hewitt wisely wanted to shoot all new special effects scenes with stop motion. The rest of the film would remain the same, I guess.
Two other stop motion fans and I thought we could do it.
I spoke to him on the phone. I didn't know anything about the business, and thought I should get a salary like a regular person, so I quoted $350 per model. He should have explained that he was like Roger Corman, and just wanted to hire some young guys who would work for (possibly) screen credit. The deal fell through. Here's the new T-Rex we made for him that he didn't use. Larry Arpin made a somewhat Gwangi-like model, but it had some serious cosmetic problems that were fixed by Bruce Heller and me. I did the face and the paint job.
