Going back to an earlier post about the first Superman film: Someone said that some of the miniatures were poor. You are quite correct, but in this case the reasons for that uneaven production quality are tragic, rather than a case of low budget or ineptitude... Superman was Derek Meddings last film, which he died about 3/4 of the way through completeing the sequences which he was responsible for. When you compare the miniatures he and his crew shot... the Planet Krypton, the Golden Gate Bridge, the helicopter sequence off the edge of the Daily Planet building.... with the ones completed by others... Boulder Dam, Fortress of Solitude, etc... It's pretty night and day.
