That made sense, though. Ripley survived Aliens in part because hers was the only character knowing exactly what was going on, and what they were in for. She survived because she was prepared. Newt survived because of experience, and Hicks survived because he kept his cool under fire. Vasquez got a raw deal, but she ran out of ammo at the wrong time. The people who lived deserved to live.

That's the magical world of the movies. But back to reality --- how many times in real life do the inocent people die? "Bad things happen to good people", etc? Of course, there are good people who live to their 90s (my grandmother was one, bless her heart) but many times young innocents are met with an untimely and tragic end, despite being good people. It's sad, but it's real. I just found out yesterday that my 47-year-old friend from childhood has died of cancer. He never did drugs, never smoked... was the nicest human being you'd ever want to meet. It wasn't fair, but it is at least one reality.
