Personally, I never want a divorce. It would just kill me, I don't know why. I guess I'm just old-fashioned that way. Never been married, but I was engaged. I was with her for 7 years, and by the end she was pretty bossy and antagonistic. I was willing to stick by her though; she was the one to kick me to the curb.
My divorce is still going through the process. I didn't want to get divorced either... I would have preferred to work things out...  it was my wife who didn't want to. As it turned out though, I subsequently found out she'd been unfaithful to me during our time together, and so that does fall into the "something that goes beyond" category.

So neither of us wanted to get married until we met each other, and now we're sort of stuck on each other, and the topic of marriage has come up... we do have a unique solution for it, though. We might get a duplex, and we'll each live in one half... close enough to be together, but still have some solitary time when we want. The thing is, we'd have to live together in her house first for a while to save up for the payment. We'll see how that goes. If we can survive that, we can make it.

Best of luck to you on that. This is what my new girlfriend and I are currently discussing. We've only been together for several weeks, but already have developed serious feelings for each other and are quite compatible. I'm in no rush at this early stage to shack up, but it is a possibility down the line. I am very, vey big on having solitary time for myself.
