Of the several film and TV adaptations of Orwell's classic, this one certainly got the look right. The drab coverall uniforms, the round-tube telescreens and bombed-out ruins, the shoddy goods with cheaply printed labels -- all just as Orwell would have pictured it at the time it was written. I only wish some of the more interesting human moments in the novel had been included in the film -- like the proletarian pub where the old man grumbles that he can't order a pint, only liters and half liters. That would have been doubleplusgood!
