List me as another John Stanley fan for Tales from the Tomb (I have a yellowing, siverfish-nibbled copy) and Ghost Stories number one with
Monster of Dread End and Werewolf Wasp.
I also appreciated his Little Lulu, and Nancy and Sluggo stories as a child.
Mr. McOnion- "You're doomed, Sluggo, doomed!"
Oona, who seems to have escaped from The Addams Family.
I didn't know who John Stanley was until I looked up Tales from the Tomb and Ghost Stories one on the internet 2 years ago.
Another case of finding out late in life that all the comic stories I liked the most all those years were written by the same person.
Of course I'm a big E.C. comics fan for the wonderful artwork and Ray Bradbury adaptations, but as one person wrote, what was unique about John Stanley was that his stories have the logic of a bad dream things aren't explained, they just *are*.
Suddenly there is a Werewolf Wasp! -As if that explains everything. Or a Mr. Green, who must be fed, or a quilted man, or The Cat who was Part of the Night.
All John Stanley's horror stories are available for download on the internet. I got them.
I needed to replace Ghost Stories one, which got lost when I moved so many times.
