I would love to type the routine out, but Sid gets so many words in so short a period of time that it would take me days to type it all (me who types with one finger and has to look at the keys)!

I was watching "Hillary's Birthday" with my 7 year old daughter recently and she was really disturbed by the viscious beating Sid Fields gave Costello as Abbott calmly sat in the easy chair not doing a thing. And when Sid tells Costello he should be more like Abbott, not causing any trouble, not making any noise, my daughter was fuming that it was Bud who kept telling Lou to turn on the radio and how unfair it was that Abbott was escaping the beating or even getting yelled at.

I guess as kids we all felt bad for and identified with Lou in these situations, getting yelled at or smacked unfairly. As adults it's the abuse that we find so amusing.

The only time I remember Sid Fields ever getting physical with Abbott was in "The Beauty Contest Story" when he grabbed Bud by the lapels and shook them.
