Does anybody know about this interesting bit from IMDB's trivia page:

Quote:
It was reported in contemporary news accounts that a sequel had been filmed in the Lake Tahoe area simultaneously with the principal photography for the first Doc Savage, but the sequel was never completed because of the poor box office for that first film.

Is there another Doc Savage fan in the house with more info on this tantilizing clue? It's possible of course that it's actually one of the the things from when they they were forced by the studio to camp it up like the 60's Batman show. Thus the footage for the "Second film" could have been some of the extensive reshooting... but still, it could be very cool if there is part of the next Doc film out there in a vault somewhere.

Interestingly, recently I've been looking at a book on George Pal that was published after filming was complete on Doc Savage, but not before it had been released to theatres. The afterword talks a little about Pal wanting to make Archenemy of Evil next.

Among the revelations:

1) The film was originally 132 minutes long. It is currently 112 minutes long in it's longest version. What could have been cut?

2) Doc Savage: Archenemy Of Evil was supposed to be the first film. They apparently had a full script written by the Man of Bronze scribes (Pal and Joe Morhaim), but decided instead to make a film version of "The Man of Bronze" instead to give Doc's origin. This would seem to conflict with the idea that Philip Jose Farmer's script treatment is what was to have been used.

3) The movie was mentioned to be campy, but there is no mention in the plot description of the tiny criminal who sleeps in a giant baby's crib (which is from one of the original stories but not Man of Bronze), or his being turned into a gold statue. My suspition is that his whole character was added in reshoots to add "humor".
