I snagged a copy of SKY CAPTAIN over the weekend, but haven't had a chance to sit and watch it. I DID, however, check out the 6 minute short and was rightly blown away. It's actually kind of exciting to imagine Doc done in that stylized way. I've been reading "Fortress of Solitude" this week, and the last few days have been imagining the story filmed this way. I gotta say, at least in my mind's eye, it works to a T!

Re: Clooney. I don't always agree with his politics, but the man has always struck me as the real deal. He seems to have a genuine love and respect for film (past and present), and frankly, he's just a damned good actor. Unfortunately, he's said that he wants to focus on more politically driven films, so the chances of seeing him in an "escapist" picture are pretty slim. I think he would make a great Doc Savage, except that he is a little too charismatic; which, ironically, would be in The Rock's favor (did I really just say that?). Besides, the Jeff Bridges idea is still plaguing me...
