I think it was in a recent NEWSWEEK where Clooney said the last time he cried was at the premiere of BATMAN & ROBIN. He's said that he's not really ashamed of being in any of his movies or TV shows, not even RETURN OF THE KILLER TOMATOES or THE FACTS OF LIFE REUNION. It was a job and at the time he was glad to get it.

When I was among a small group of journalists interviewing him re: SOLARIS, he had a great story along these lines. With Michelle Phillips, he was making a round of TV shows to promote ONE FINE DAY. A host asked Phillips if she wanted to say anything about GREASE 2. She sighed, said, oh, I'm so ashamed of that. Clooney said he adores Phillips, but he didn't want her to get away with such a load of baloney. He said, "When you got home and found an answering machine from your agent who said great news, you got the GREASE 2 part, you jumped up and down, clapping your hands, called your mom and all your friends to say 'Guess what!? I'm in GREASE 2!' Now don't tell me you didn't do that." He said she laughed and admitted she had done just about exactly that.

Then one of the journalists said, "Well, how about BATMAN AND ROBIN?" Clooney rolled his eyes and asked us to forget everthing he'd just said. (Absolutely great interview subject, and one of the most likeable people I've ever met in any context.)
