I would love a new Doc movie! For directors, I think Coppola in his Tucker: The Man and His Dream mode would be terrific. (I think, in many ways, that this looks more like a Doc film than any other.) Scorcese in Aviator mode would be fine, as well.

Another good choice would be Joe Johnston, who made The Rocketeer.

I'm not quite sure of The Rock as Doc -- almost as bad a choice as California's governor. Doc is not only an athlete, he is also profoundly intellectual. Neither would be convincing as a mental giant. Doc should probably be played by an unknown, and, hopefully, an adult rather than a teen idol. (Jeff Bridges would've been ideal, but he's a little long in the tooth, now. Today, George Clooney, in a proper body suit, might be ideal -- he can certainly play period roles.)

More fun would be casting the Fabulous Five....
