And you were right, Tony. It is a Castle-style gimmick. But it's still an okay movie by my lights.

I've never thought of it as blaxploitation, but just as a fun horror movie that happens to have a black leading man. It may have been retitled THE BLACK WEREWOLF for video, but that wasn't the original title, was it?

I must agree with Mr. Oldmanster that James Blish's original story was better. And it was published in one of Zacherley's Ballantine paperbacks! (ZACHERLEY'S VULTURE STEW, I believe.)
