Quite an admirable feat, my gentlemanly and scholarly friend.

Even with the 9 minutes in the laserdiscy quality of Toho's R2 it should be an experience far exceeding either DVD. A little color correction on the 9 minutes could help a bit. Let us know when and where it drops.

I've considered restoring War of the Gargantuas' Japanese version using mostly shots from the US print, obviously for the changes and alternate takes I'd use shots from the Japanese version with possibly a little color correction. However, I probably won't so it might be a cool next project for you after this. Has Toho released a Bluray remaster of Gargantuas yet, anybody? Their DVDs of the Frankenstein films were of the same murky transfer substandards as King Kong vs. Godzilla.

Also, that Booted Babe, Busted Boss looks cool as heck. Jun Fukuda's best work, apparently, lies outside of his Godzilla output. Apparently, like Kinji Fukasaku he had quite a knack for crime and action films and the trailer and clip is top grade 60s spy psychedelia, looking like if you mixed Fukasaku's Black Lizard with an especially rough and tumble 007 entry. You can definitely see some of his action film background in his Godzilla movies: he seems much more comfortable directing the spy film element of Sea Monster (his one film I think that is as strong as most any Honda entry) or the espionage and skirmishes with the aliens in Gigan or Mechagodzilla than anything to do with the SFX scenes. He's also much more in his element with ESPY, which, while not great, is fairly amusing fun.
