I know I stated this above, but as Jon asked, I am just fleshing out what I said a bit.

I love the first and second films equally, but for different reasons. ALIEN is a perfect horror/haunted house type of film. It causes you to jump at all the perfect spots, and you really care about the characters.
ALIENS is a white knuckled roller coaster ride, with some true scares, and you really care about the characters.
I like the hopeless feeling of the third film, and I like what it seems like it wanted to be. Yes, there is some serious boredom within that flick, but I accept that for what the film was shooting for. It had chacters you wanted to care about, but just couldn't.
I despised and absolutely hated RESURRECTION when I first saw it. Then I watched it again with I got it in the DVD set, and my feelings stayed the same. It was the ESCAPE FROM L.A. of the ALIEN series, complete with the cheese (the basketball game, the silly looking crossbred alien baby loving Ripley). Nothing about that film worked for me, aside from maybe Ron Perlman (who I always love) and Vic from CHEERS.

I look at the VS PREDATORS films as seperate from both series (A and P). I like both of those films just for the monster aspects, but that is about it. I agree with the people who have said they are the modern equivilant of the Universal HOUSE monster films. Just an excuse to cram the studios moneymakers in a film together. They could have/should have so much better, but they weren't.
