I have read, with much interest the postings on David Peel. Just to correct an error on the quaotation of David Peel: 'You know the old saying -- whichever way the twig is bent so the tree will grow...' This, in fact, comes not from the Pressbook, but the Publicity Manual (page18). Peel was 'a confirmed batchelor' who stated : 'I have no wish to be 'tied up'. Marriage is fine for those in suits.' Peel was an experienced stage actor who was RADA trained and made his screen debut in WE DIVE AT DAWN; he was born in London and authored two plays, one of which appeared on UK television. Certainly, regarding his time at Hammer, Anthony Hinds expressed a wish for the two to work together again, thus suggesting Peel was a most acceptable actor at Hammer. Peel himself was probably well off financially as he lived in Knightsbridge at the time of making THE BRIDES OF DRACULA. An interesting man, it is a sad loss that he did not pursue his acting career much beyond BRIDES and died rather too soon.
