It's good that you mention the fact there are some films that you didn't like as a kid, Mysto - as I'm going through the 21 disc set I'm finding that the big famous 'set pieces' I loved as a lad like moving the piano up the steps in 'The Music Box' are still just as funny. But I'm noticing the small flourishes of comic genius they added everywhere to accompany these sequences more and more - the glances Ollie gives in 'The Music Box' that I mentioned in an earlier post, or tonight in 'Big Business' Stan's bit with the gloves and Ollie's reaction to that is just as good in it's own small way as the big 'tit for tat' sequence with James Finlayson.

I'm going through a bit of a L&H marathon at the minute - I'm going to (re)view all of their films over the next couple of months with the help of the UK 21 disc set, the two Fox boxes, the TCM set and a few other discs I'm lucky enough to have and it's going rather well. And I'm also very fortunate that my wife likes the films too and is keeping me company by watching most of them with me!

Having watched over twenty so far it's difficult even at this early stage to name a favouirite as they have all been pretty great. But 'Sons Of The Desert' to me is virtually perfect.
