I agree, it me of watching good Blackhawk Films 16mm prints, some are better than others but on the whole they look like they are from decent 35mm prints.

I had a few of the "THE LOST FILMS OF LAUREL & HARDY" disks. Some were taken from pristine masters, and that was a treat, but they would seem a little "video-like" to some eyes now, having been mastered over 15 years ago. The other thing was that the scores were annoying on some, and had a terrible "tinny" distorted quality.
