Another great jump-cut that takes us through time (not too far into the future) and space (not very far to another place on Earth) is in LAWRENCE OF ARABIA when a match flame cuts to a burning desert.

Appropo of nothing, I was reading Stephanie Powers' autobiography today at work during lunch and she claims that she was the first voice of HAL before being replaced by one of the Nigels, Green or Davenport (I can't remember right now and I don't have the book with me), before Douglas Rain became the voice we know today.  She also mentions that her then boyfriend, Gary Lockwood, came up with the bit where HAL lip reads the conversation between the astronauts.  Have either of these stories ever been reported before?
