I can't say yet whether or not this will ruin the enjoyment of all PAL releases for me overall, but for those of us who are purists about movies being replicated as intended, then technically we can say that movies were not intended to be run a tad sped up that way, either.
Nor having the films grain artificially smoothed with DNR filters right? smiley: tongue Sorry, couldn't resist, but it is fair to say that in some regaurds you're more of a "purist" than others. I will concede that PAL speed up adds nothing to a film. The only two places I have noticed was on some of the L&H films I was very familiar with, and THE BLACK CAT.

The funny thing about THE BLACK CAT was that when put on laserdisc in the US it was sped up even more to fit on one side of the disk.

All-in-all I'd say I notice it on occasion, but it's only bugged me once or twice. BLOOD ON SATAN'S CLAW, BURN WHICH BURN, & PIT AND THE PENDULUM never stuck out to me.
