Just time for a quick peek last night -
I've seen these before, and as I think has been mentioned earlier in the thread, the transfers are variable - the silents can look pretty rough, as does FROM SOUP TO NUTS on the first disc which I previewed.
Other titles can look pretty good, such as BELOW ZERO and SAPS AT SEA on disc 11. These are not "restorations" by any means, rather prints like we've all seen on TV for 50 years. Things like the finely checkered butler vest on ANOTHER FINE MESS (again, only so-so) will moire
on your monitor or projector. But for the price, this is just a great deal all-in-all.

My main concern was the quality of PAL playback on the Insignia, which I'm happy to report is very good - smooth with no occasional "stutter" which I've seen on other cheap PAL conversion players.

No time to watch DUMBO on Blu ray, but my friend who turned me on to this says it just looks great, as any new Disney Blu ray usually does - he's real high-end, with an OPPO as his main player, so if he's satisfied with the R2 Blu ray play back, then it must be pretty good.
