I thought JAIL BUSTERS was a a notch or so above the other 50s-era Bowery Boys I've seen. The 'sedimentalized' subplot with the injured Chuck, some interesting characters such as Fitz Feld's doctor and Percy Helton's warden, and the fairly original gag (I thought) of the prison top gun Percival P. Lannigan's swanky cell - complete with brass door knocker, Venetian blinds, antique furniture, clown paintings, and particularly his polo shirts with his prison number embroidered on the chest - raised it all a bit in my opinion.

And as always the subtle, intuitive direction of William Beaudine!
