Or even near-classics. I was just curious what types of cars (that could be considered classic) have been owned by our monster members here over the years.

Hi Mike,

Excellent topic! The only real "classic" car I've owned was a 1974 Opel. ..pause for laughter.. It certainly wasn't a muscle car, and it didn't really attract the ladies, but I did have a lot of fun in it. I think it was a sort of purple/maroon color, but it was hard to tell since the paint was so oxidized!

That car was captured in a poignant photo (see below). It was late August of 1984 and I had just been hired for my first radio job (way down in Sherman, Texas). The morning I left I remember hugging my brother and sister, then my Dad, and finally a long hug for my Mom. She was in tears, but knew days like this would come. I backed down the driveway (of our Wisconsin home) and out onto the street. I took one look back at the home I'd always known, then waved. My Mom snapped a picture, forever capturing that moment.

That little '74 Opel got me all the way to Texas, but it didn't survive long afterwards. I think it gave all it had on that 1,000 mile trip.
