Sorghum cake; fried corn meal mush; red eye gravy; corn meal gray; milk gravy; small fried raisin pies; rice pudding; molasses cookies; rich jam cake with white icing; pan fried sliced potatoes; leftover cold potatoes that had been cooked with a pot roast; dumplings; cornbread; biscuits; probably more I'll think of later.

Some are obvious choices, like mom's biscuits or cornbread, while some no doubt require an explanation as to what made them good. (For example, the cold potatoes. They had a thin layer of beef fat that stayed with them -- most apparent when re-served at room temperature or cold -- that seasoned them deliciously.) But if you've had any of them and liked them, nuff said.
