Well, being in an Italian household, we were never short of a good meal!

My mom was a great cook. She made the best pasta sauce. When kids would come trick or treating the parents would smell the sauce (if it was Thursday or Sunday) and want to come in.

She made bake ziti, lasagna, baked macaroni (basically macaroni and cheese, I suppose) apple pies, crumb cakes. Over the years as everyone stared eating healthy, my dad would have to tell her to not make so many desserts and make less fattening meals. I eat healthy, but truthfully, I don't enjoy it. I miss big, get stuffed kind of meals. My mom used to say, "Your eyes are bigger than your stomach." I never understood the phrase, but I know it meant I had eaten too much.

She also had a schedule. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday were up for grabs. Thursday was pasta. Friday was pizza. Saturday was hot dogs and hamburgers. Sunday was pasta or a roast of some kind.

I miss those meals. And I miss my mom.
