My grandmother and great-grandmother made lots of vegetables from their garden (they lived on the same plot of land my grandmother's whole life). Chicken and dumplins, gravy and biscuits, pinto beans, cornbread, fried breaded okra, greens, chicken liver, haystack cookies (no-bake peanut butter, chocolate, and oatmeal!!!).... I'm sure I'll think of more... I was really blessed to be raised by them. Did I mention the home-grown tomatoes??? The squash, corn, potatoes??? I was a lucky little girl indeed!
